The Future of My Substack
Changing the topic, name, and post frequency - for a more focused, quality-based newsletter
As I shared in my last newsletter, I’m changing my substack. Up to now, I’d been without a clear direction for Health With Ruth. I started by sharing my personal story, then switched to writing about physical health, and lastly, I changed to mental and spiritual health.
But I want to offer a more focused newsletter, where readers know what to expect. So, I’m changing the topic of my substack to gut health.
Why gut health?
In previous posts I wrote about my health struggles and I came to the conclusion that the main cause for them is poor gut health. I’ve been researching this topic for many years because I’m so driven to solve this limiting issue in my life.
I’ve also discovered how the gut plays a tremendous role in health, both physical and mental. It’s a growing field where a lot of exciting discoveries are being made. Gut problems are widespread among the global population nowadays and I would love to offer value there to help others by sharing my journey and discoveries.
From “Health With Ruth” to “Good Gut Health”
We’re not just changing the topic but also the name of the substack. Like that it’s clear instantly what it’s about ;)
In the coming days, I’ll be changing the entire look of the substack—above is a sneak peek. The name doesn’t need any explanation. Although, a fun fact is that there’s a word play with German: “Gut” is the German word for “good” ;)
Changing the post frequency
So far I’ve been posting every Friday. I want to change that, however, because I’ve noticed I haven’t been offering the value I would like to with this post frequency. I feel guilty because I’ve been rushing through the content, trying to post every Friday, but at the cost of quality.
Although I’d like to send a newsletter every week, I’ve noticed I don’t manage to without reducing the quality. So I’ve decided to reduce the post frequency and focus on quality instead.
I find it much more important to provide quality—not quantity. In the digital age we already have an information overload anyway.
So, from now on I’ll be posting once every two weeks/twice per month. It will still be on Friday but less often. My first post about gut health will either be next week (November 8th) or the week after that (November 15th)—depending on when my first post will be ready.
Exciting times are ahead!
I’m very excited to start sharing my findings on gut health with you. I’m currently reading a book on SIBO (Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth), so I’ll definitely be sharing what I know about that.
I’ve also been experimenting with probiotic yogurts (see image below) and I’m thinking about sharing the process and the health benefits with you. It’s based on the book Super Gut by Dr. William Davis—a book that’s at the top of my reading list.
Any suggestions for topics we could explore here together are also welcome, as always :)
That’s all I have to share for now. Looking forward to starting our new journey together—exploring everything that has to do with gut health!
